Beautiful Rainbow Café!
Located in the Gadsden Public Library & in partnership with the Gadsden City School
System!
The Beautiful Rainbow Café will be closed May 31-June7 for a short break. They will
reopen on Tuesday, June 8, at 11 AM.
Tuesday: 11 AM-1 PM lunch
Wednesday: 11 AM-1 PM lunch
Thursday: 11 AM-1 PM lunch
Friday: 11AM-1PM lunch
Saturday/Sunday/Monday: CLOSED
In the event of inclement weather, Beautiful Rainbow Café will observe closing for weather days as
they occur and as they are called by the Gadsden City School System.

GPL Oral History Project
When: By appointment only.
Want to share your nostalgic stories about what it was like growing up in Gadsden? Were you in the military? Do you have an interesting story to tell? Then join the Gadsden Public Library in our
ongoing effort to preserve the oral history of Gadsden and Etowah County. Interviews are now

GPL USDA Summer Food Program for Kids (0-18 years old)
When: Monday-Friday, 11 AM-12:30 PM (June & July. Begins June 7)
Lunch is provided by the USDA Summer Food Program! Anyone 0-18 can eat for free. Dine-in
only. No take-out.

GPL Adult Summer Reading Take & Makes (age 17+)
When: Mondays in June
Where: Circulation desk of main GPL (254 College St.)
Pick up an Adult Summer Reading Program Take & Make Kit each Monday in June! Each kit
includes everything you need to complete the project!
June 7-Random Plants of Kindness-Pick up a plant to give away so that you can make someone’s
day! Plants are provided by the Etowah County Extension Office and come with care instructions.
June 14-Literary Coloring Club-Includes Bookishly Activity pages and coloring pencils!
June 21-Origami-Learn the art of paper folding!
June 28-Book Page Blooms-Make a flower out of a discarded book page!
Quantities are limited each week. One of each kit per person, please. Participants must be age 17+.

Etowah County Master Gardeners: Beginning Farmer Program
When: June 3, 10 AM
Where: GPL Lena Martin Room
Join Etowah County Master Gardeners’ guest speaker Eric Schavey as he discusses the Beginning
Farmer Program! This Alabama Cooperative Extension program is designed for home gardeners,
commercial vegetable production, and just anyone who wants to know a little more about
agriculture, agronomics, marketing, and production.

sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The certified Master Gardeners

Join us this summer for our Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program! Our virtual and interactive
summer series is designed for hands-on participation at home, while also encouraging visits to the
library to check out books and pick up goodies! For Virtual Workshops/Programs Via Zoom:
Participants who register for summer reading can access virtual workshops through Zoom (link will
be located on the gadsdenlibrary.beanstack.org website under the event in which you wish to
participate). Each workshop will be geared towards learning something cool and fun.
May 3-Early Registration begins online. To register, visit gadsdenlibrary.beanstack.org
May 28, 2-4 PM -Kick-off at the GPL Park-Participants can register in person, and pick up materials.
Outdoor activities will be available (bubbles, hula-hoops, jump-ropes, and more)!

Twirl
June 11, 2 PM (Virtual Zoom Program)-Collage Art with Pop Collage Artist Michael Albert

Gadsden area (Broad Street). Pick up our scavenger hunt game card, locate our New GPL logo, find all 8 Horcruxes, and return your completed game card for a cool prize!

Drop in the library anytime in June/July to pick up a free game board modeled after the classic
